Some things are so serendipitous…. this impromptu anniversary session in Positano was definitely one of those things. I traveled through Italy with my friend Emi Fujii of Emi Fujii photography and we were coming back to our hotel from dinner our first night in Positano when we met Rachel and Trevor. Visiting Italy from England, Trevor, a fellow photography enthusiast, was set up on our balcony overlooking the ocean with his camera and tripod. The sun was setting and we watched it go down together while chatting with them about their trip and the possibility of doing a couples shoot of them the following day. At first we could tell they weren’t sure about it, but by the next day we had everything set! Emi brought a gown for Rachel and a local florist made the most incredible bouquet for it. We spent the evening exploring Positano, hiking up and down the 16 or 18 flights of stairs to get down onto the beach with the soft pastel buildings in the background. It was such a lovely shoot and so special. We lucked out with these two and got a gorgeous styled shoot in the middle of Italy on a whim. All of these images below were shot on film on my Pentax 645N and scanned by Goodman Film Lab. I am in love with these scans, they are so soft and romantic, they perfectly captured the beauty of this coastal town.
