My favorite thing about blogging is the story telling aspect of it. I love being able to share a couples wedding day in a way that tells a story of love and laughter and pure joy. Lauren and Tyler’s wedding day was just that, a day filled with so much joy. From the moment Lauren walked down the isle and Tyler saw her for the first time, to their hilarious cake smash, you could feel love all around. Tucked away in a beautiful canyon, Dove canyon golf club was the perfect venue for hosting their garden inspired wedding day. The property features a gorgeous waterfall, pond, gardens and a lush backdrop perfect for sunset photos overlooking that view! Ahh! I am smitten!
Lauren and Tyler celebrated a traditional wedding, waiting until the ceremony to see one another and I loved getting to capture the big reveal. When Lauren walked down the aisle it was quite apparent that everyone was blown away. Her sweetheart lace wedding dress was absolutely stunning, but nothing compared to her joyous smile. When I turned around to see Tylers reaction it was all love. Of course when the bridesmaids started tearing up I could barely hold it together! Thanks ladies! HA!

How did you meet?
Our mutual friend introduced us. I worked with her previously and then we both moved on to other jobs. She went on to work at the same law firm as Tyler. She told me a little about him and said she wanted to introduce us, but it didn’t happen until we all went to a networking event together (we are both attorneys). We hung out a couple of times after that with friends until he finally asked me on an actual date!
What was the highlight of your wedding day, the best part for each of you?
The highlight of the wedding day for me was definitely walking down the aisle and locking eyes with Tyler the whole time. I couldn’t look anywhere else and was so excited that this moment had finally come! Tyler‘s highlight of the day was the same moment!

How did you know she/he was the one?
I think we both knew pretty early on. From the beginning of our relationship I think we both felt that we could talk to each other about anything and could trust each other.

How did he propose?
He was actually able to surprise me with his proposal! I thought for sure I would see it coming or at least suspect it. It happened Easter weekend. We were planning on driving to San Diego to meet up with his family who had rented a house right on the beach. We went on a walk on the beach, and he stalled a little bit in walking back to the house, but once we got there I walked up the back stairs and saw rose petals leading from the living room onto the balcony over the water. On the balcony, there were beautiful bouquets of flowers everywhere. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Then a few minutes later my family and his family came up the stairs excited to celebrate our engagement! Family is important to both of us and apparently he had planned it all out with both of our families, so it was a surprise to me to see my family was also there!

Why/how did you chose your venue?
We wanted a venue that had pretty water features, and Dove Canyon has a beautiful waterfall as well as a still body of water right next to the ceremony space. We also loved the nice interior of the reception venue.

What was your floral inspiration?
Lots of greenery with light colors throughout!
What was the theme/colors/concept for your wedding?
Romantic theme, with light pinks, periwinkle, and gold.

Why did you choose Whimsie Studios to photograph your wedding day?
My friend had Whimsie Studios photograph her wedding. I thought her pictures were so pretty and she highly recommended them! I had looked at a number of photographer’s work and thought Sadie’s pictures were beautiful! For me, the pictures seemed very ethereal and romantic, which is something that I wanted to incorporate throughout our wedding day.
What was your wedding day photoshoot experience like?
It was awesome! Sadi told us exactly what to do, and wrangled us all in (11 bridesmaids is no joke!) She has the perfect personality for making you feel comfortable and having fun throughout the process.

What did you like most about working with me?
Your direction, your eye for good photo locations, patience, and sense of humor and ability to keep calm!
