I love this time of year the most out of any season, the weather changes from miserably hot here in Cali to mild and cool days, while the trees change colors and its apple season and pumpkin pie season, my two favorite things! So when Lauren and Tyler told me they wanted a fall color inspired engagement session I knew Oak Glen would be the perfect spot for it. We ventured up to Snowline Apple Orchard and spent the afternoon wandering the apple orchards and taking photos with the beautiful big red trees. It was such a gorgeous day and the perfect setting for a fall engagement session.
Our mutual friend introduced us. I worked with her previously and then we both moved on to other jobs. She went on to work at the same law firm as Tyler. She told me a little about him and said she wanted to introduce us, but it didn’t happen until we all went to a networking event together (we are both attorneys). We hung out a couple of times after that with friends until he finally asked me on an actual date! I think we both knew pretty early on he was the one. From the beginning of our relationship I think we both felt that we could talk to each other about anything and could trust each other.
He was actually able to surprise me with his proposal! I thought for sure I would see it coming or at least suspect it. It happened Easter weekend. We were planning on driving to San Diego to meet up with his family who had rented a house right on the beach. We went on a walk on the beach, and he stalled a little bit in walking back to the house, but once we got there I walked up the back stairs and saw rose petals leading from the living room onto the balcony over the water. On the balcony, there were beautiful bouquets of flowers everywhere. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Then a few minutes later my family and his family came up the stairs excited to celebrate our engagement! Family is important to both of us and apparently he had planned it all out with both of our families, so it was a surprise to me to see my family was also there!
Why/how did you chose your venue?
We wanted a venue that had pretty water features, and Dove Canyon has a beautiful waterfall as well as a still body of water right next to the ceremony space. We also loved the nice interior of the reception venue.
My friend had Whimsie Studios photograph her wedding. I thought her pictures were so pretty and she highly recommended them! I had looked at a number of photographer’s work and thought Sadie’s pictures were beautiful! For me, the pictures seemed very ethereal and romantic, which is something that I would like to incorporate throughout our wedding day.
What was the highlight of your session, the best part for each of you?
I loved the direction that Sadi provided throughout the session, she told us exactly what to do. I think Tyler really liked how Sadie knew exactly where to pose us to get the effect we wanted (fall colors!).
What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
I’m most looking forward to celebrating with family and friends!
What advice would you give other couples while planning their big day?
Remember to always come back to the sole purpose for the wedding—starting a life together with someone you love!
